Community agriculture and sustainable development in the Democratic Republic of the Congo since 1997.
FERCOMEX-TCN (Ferme Communautaire et Expérimentale – La Terre de Chez-Nous) is a Congolese non-governmental organisation founded in 1997. It began as an experimental farm serving smallholder farmers and has grown into a local development actor that strengthens the capacity of rural communities, improves food security and promotes sustainable farming practices.
Today we also work on climate resilience, sustainable waste management and ecological solutions for inclusive development, while taking part in international initiatives for environmental justice.
Our story and mission
Since 1997, FERCOMEX-TCN has worked alongside the communities of Haut-Katanga: nearly thirty years of continuous presence in the field, four areas of work and a community farm at Kaisala serving smallholder farmers.
Four priorities guide our work with communities, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

FERCOMEX-TCN brings the city of Lubumbashi into plastic bottle collection — a concrete circular-economy initiative that extends our commitments within the GWCN and GAIA networks.
Completing the barn marks a major milestone for the pig farming project launched with the local Rotary: the animals move into suitable, durable facilities.
Maize, vetiver, hibiscus, soybeans, carrots and onions: the farmland acquired in 2011 enters production, directly benefiting community food security.
Our local action is part of international movements for environmental justice.
